Be Kind To Your Mind

I often work with a lot of numbness and anxiety in my day to day life. I do things like yoga, prayer, meditation, workouts, and other various self love practices, and often the hardest struggle is opening my mind. ⠀⠀

I can be doing the actions, yet my mind is still blocked and reserved, numb to all of the good things I’m trying to fuel her with.

In reflecting on this phenomenon and I’ve come to the conclusion that the numb feeling and mind blocks are signaling that I am out of alignment. ⠀

When I’m aligned to what God is asking of me and where my heart lies, I know what that feels like. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I feel at peace, I have clarity, and immense hope. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

When I stray from that and immerse myself in all the dramas and stressors that pull me away, I feel the numbness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Then when I begin to think about all the time I’ve wasted out of alignment I get freaked out, and stressed about time slipping away. Beating myself up and straying even further. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

Which brings me to the topic of being kind to your mind. It’s so easy to show kindness, forgiveness, and grace towards someone else, and yet nearly impossible to show it to yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

We are so used to be an enemy and criticizing ourselves for every little flaw and mistake that we often forget that the#1person you’re listening to all day long is that voice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If the space in your mind look like a scenery, what would it look like? ⠀⠀⠀

On my happiest days I picture a fire pit, a clear sky above twinkling with stars, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Calm, comforting, warm, and inviting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On the worst days I picture a heavy wet towel draped over that fire, a glaring sun blasting all of my flaws, accompanied with insufferable, confining heat. Making me feel sluggish and exhausted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Overwhelmed, defeated, irritable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The space you create in your mind holds all of the glorious things that you dream up and have yet to achieve. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Make sure it’s a place worthy of them and be kind to yourself! ⠀⠀
